Primary Source Gathering

Primary sources and documents are a key piece of a history class. They bring the experience of our ancestors right into our classroom and are valuable tools for teaching reading and comprehension skills. Below are a few of my favorite places to find these sources either individually or in sets, or included with a premade lesson.

Custom Videos

Custom videos are a great way to engage your students in a virtual classroom. Believe it or not, students do want to see their teacher. Creating videos that cover lessons, assignments, or other key content for your class is a great way to walk through the material with students but to build rapport while learning from a distance.
Many of our students requested that we had more videos to support the lessons they were reading and the assignments they were asked to complete, and were grateful when we made a push to record more early in this last semester.

Slack

Slack has been key to communication in our school. We have staff across the country and we can keep in close immediate contact. It also helps us discuss plans to support students, receive answers to quick questions, and disseminate information to all staff quickly and clearly. There are many features and add ons available to customize your Slack channel.
